Tires for 96 Tahoe 4x4??

Recommended Posts

I'm going to need to replace the tires on my 96 Tahoe before too long. The current 245/75R18's are just too small to fill up the wheel wells! What tires are safe to replace these with on the factory wheels? Do you have any pics of non stock tires on 4x4 old body style Tahoes?

The 285's look nice--especially considering I wouldn't be buying new wheels.

Does the truck feel sluggish with the taller tire as compared to the OE 245s? What kind of mileage do you get with those tires? I dont' know what to expect fromt he 96 yet. My 95 Yukon with 33's on it got about 15 mpg on the highway, but it was pretty weak at 75 mph and wouldn't hold speed up an incline without downshifting. Thanks for the pics!

the 285 have little or no effect on performance that i could tell other than maybe a bit on towing a heavy load. to me the ride felt taller and steering more responsive.i had 165's on before i got the 285's and i'd agree they look and ride better imo. i think the 305 step it a bit steap w/o re-gearing expecially if you tow alot. :)
