1500HD gone...2500HD here

Recommended Posts

Traded off my 1500HD today, got a great deal on an 04' 2500HD Duramax. Love it so far. I had cranked up my torsion bars on the 1500 for clearance for the 285's, but the ride suffered a lot and I'm going to leave them alone this time. I think I will put 265/75/16's on this truck and stay away from any clearance issues. Any opinions on this move? How long should I wait before I put a tune in the PCM?

Congrats on the new truck,I too plan on straying from 285's and going with 265's instead, though not because I'm afraid of cranking the torsion bars.I do believe that you can solve some of the ride harshness with an aftermarket shock that is an inch or two longer than stock and that is the route I'll be going.

In regards to the tune,no clue here.I've left our D-max stock as it's my wife's daily commuter but I'm sure others will chime in soon on that part.

Good luck with the new truck and enjoy. :banghead:

Congrats, you're going to really like the Duramax.

Let her break in a little before you put a tune in it. At least 4-5K miles. The best tune for the $ right now is the Edge Juice and/or the Edge Juice Attitude. If you only opt for the Edge Juice, don't forget to install a Pyro and Boost. Those kind of tunes can easily take your temps into the danger zone.
