LS1 AND LS6?

Recommended Posts

What is interchangable on the LQ4 and LS1 OR LS6? Heads and Intakes and different things like that. Also can you use superchargers and different horsepower boosters like N20 kits that are made for the LS1 or LS6's? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

whats up? brand new here. was wondering if anyone had tried a cylinder head swap 5.3 block with 6.0 aluminum heads? heard a rumor of possible valve to cylinder interference. not sure if this rumor is true or not. also if its benifical at all by itself or with a cam? any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

They will go on there. Dont know if it would be for the better as far as performance goes. The LQ4, LQ9 heads do flow really well though. If I remember right the 6.0 heads will decrease the compression too.

Are the 5.3 heads not aluminum?

I think the '99s got iron heads and the later motors were aluminum. As far as interchangability, everything will bolt on LS1/LS1/4.8/5.3/6.0 but you have to watch the size of the combustion chamber and the resulting compression ratio. Lots of LS1 guys are bolting up 5.3 heads because they chambers are smaller and therefore increase the CR to ~11.0:1. (Plus they're cheaper and since they're going to port them anyway, the higher CR is a welcomed benefit.)

ChevyHiPerformance did a recent test on the truck, LS1, LS6, and FAST intakes. On a stock motor, the truck and LS6 intakes made more power than the LS1. However, the truck intake started to fall off as the motor flowed more air with a bigger cam and/or upgraded heads.
