parking brake sticking

Recommended Posts

I just had the parking brake stick on pretty hard on my '01 'Burban 2500. I parked on a steep hill so I mashed the brake to avoid torque locking the trans. When I released it, it dragged for a few miles and finally let go. Both rotors were hot so It looks like the cable held them both on. Anyone else had issues with them? 3 years is kind of early for cable trouble....

I have the same problem from time to time on my 02 2500HD... The dealer swore up and down it was the pads were rusting onto the disc... Over night to top it off.. They finally after all my bitching at them adjusted them and the have not locked up in a while.

SXVyper, It's the d**n salt that corrodes everything. Course, if we lived where they didn't salt the roads, we'd have to lay on the couch and watch TV all winter. I just scored the big block 'Burban to pull my sleds really fast. I did brakes all around including new rotors. The parking brake mechanism didn't appear TOO rusted, but I guess maybe. Sounds like your dealer may be on the crack pipe.... :banghead:
