Best exhaust for 6.0l

Recommended Posts

Anybody have any info on a supposedly new Flowmaster cat back exhaust for the 6.0l that was intended to answer the problem of resonation and perhaps be the best performance enhancement as compared to current models offered? Looking for info before I buy.

I was thinking of getting flowmaster 70's run dual out the back. I THINK this is a good choice to keep the inside noise down, yet sound good outside. OR maybe I'll go with the 50 delta flows like I have on the car?

You may want to look into magnaflow? I had them on my last truck and it sounded good. I'm not sure on the 6.0 though...

I'm putting the exhaust on an '04 2500 Suburban. Sound is important but not as critical as perofrmance. I guess it was some number of months ago that I read a post about a flowmaster product being tuned specifically for the Chevy 6.0L. Thanks for the input.

make sure you ask the exhaust people about resonation. you don't want that annoying hum in the cab all the time. the 6.0's and up are known for this. 6.0s and 5.3' are completely different, so make sure you research things.

Corsa has some nice systems for the 5.3 Suburbans but nothing for the 6.0 and 8.1s. This is the only system that I'd want to run because I don't like to listening to any resonance inside the truck, especially while towing.

I have used the B&B TriFlo system on a 6.0 Suburban. It was aggressive at wide open throttle but not to bad during normal driving.

Tbyrne,

Do you think the lack of a player for the 6.0 or 8.1 is something being worked on or has it not been a market large enough for the exhaust manufacturers to worry about? If you think there is work going on maybe waiting a while longer is not a bad idea?

I just put on a flowmaster 50 series SUV with dual inlet and single out then a 4" stainless steel tip. The truck is a 1500HD crew cab with the 6.0L and the sound is excellent inside and out. Very nice rumble off the lights with no high RPM rapping noise like straight pipe. The in cab noise is very low and to actually hear the exaust tone you need to open the back passanger window. Absolutly no droning at all. It seems to have made it a little more responsive at city driving speed.
