Fuel Pump Problem

Recommended Posts

I have changed the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, and checked the fuses, and the pump will still not work. When we changed the fuel pump it worked for a second but then stopped. Also when we took out the old fuel pump there was an exposed wire as if it had shorted in the tank. I could use any suggestions as to solving my problem. Thanks.

Hi, what year and make is your vehicle and does your oil pressure gauge reading? The reason I ask is because GM vehicles use to use the oil pressure sender to power the fuel pump relay. If no oil pressure was seen than it would not put power to the fuel pump relay thus no fuel psi. Get a wiring diagram for the vehicle and see what else is on the same circuit and it would also be benifical to purchase a digital multi meter, it will save you a lot of time and headaches. Good luck.
