Hey guys I am still New at all this drive by wire technology but I know this much IT SUCKS. I miss throttle cables. Anyway to the point......

I am seriously thinking about getting some lower gears. But I dont want to kill my gas milage but I am willing to beat it up a little. Was thinking a long the line of 4.10 or 4.11 which ever on they make for these trucks. My 4.8 is a good HIGH reving engine. But that is also the problem all the power is in the high rpm range. I currently have 3.42's with stock 16 inch alloys and stock 30 inch rubbers. :chevy:

I dont have a lot of mods but they are as follows: K&N cone filter with stock tube, Cold air box, Flowmaster 40 seris delta flow, Predator tune.

Any advice would be appreciated. And I have to work with in a low buget. :jester: Thanks.

Yea, it aint gonna be cheap. But the backlash and runout is detremental to the life of the rear end! Best to set it right the first time and not have to mess with it again. Just find you a competent shop to do the install. Installation can be done for cheaper than 1500 bucks! It can be done yourself but man oh man is it a CHORE!

I think 4.10's are great....Especially with a 4l60e....That little truck will scream out of the hole and thru 1st gear! I have the 4.10's and 4l80e which has a taller 1st gear (couldnt stand the 4l80 with 3.73's, seems like 1st gear is never gonna end) and a lower top gear....At 75 mph with 265 70 16 (about the same size as you mentioned) my big block is turning about 2800 rpms and gets about 13 on the highway...Im sure youll be happy but it will ding your mpg on the highway but probably wont change alot around town.

I used the calculator a TCI Automotive and it said I will go from 1744 at 65 to 2095 at 65 in o.d., thats not to bad I guess. WIll I need that electrical sensor thing that goes on the rear abs or is that only with 4.56's? I have read about people who needed it to make the abs light go off. Found a guy who does the set up for a good price. Did my neighbor's tahoe and his mustang with 4.10's and 4.11's. thanks guys

Hi guys,

Brand new here and it's my first post. My brother has a 1999 1500 4x4 and switched from 3.73s to 4.11s(front&rear), had the PCM tweaked to record the gear change, but the ABS light stays on. We are stumped. Yukon gear, the place where we bough the ring & pinion, has never seen this problem, The guy that installed them does this everyday and has never seen the problem, finally the guy that programmed the PCM doesn't know either. Can anyone give us any idea what is up? We have driven the truck with a scanner plugged in and the speedo/odo seem to be right on with the rear, the problem is that the front 2 abs sensors are reading different from the rear and different from each other. Any clues at all?

1 last question, when changing to the different gears is a new reluctor required?

Thanks

JP
