I am scheduled to get a lift next week. Planning on a Superlift. We discussed changing out the drive shaft on my 4x4 using the Superlift. The shop owner said some due and some do not do this. Any thoughts on this and why is this required?

Is this required with the Fabtech? Any thoughts on the pros and cons of each lift?

changind the driveshaft because the lift puts the driveeshaft at a extreme angle, sometimes its too much, causing faliures.

Trucks with AutoTrac are the ones that need the new driveshaft.. then ones with just 4x4 do not.

The reason being on the autotrac equip trucks the front driveshaft spins all the time (even when in 2wd). AutoTrack is made to run at highspeeds (say in snow or rain etc..) where it stays in 2wd untill it feels a loss of traction and kicks in the 4x4.

The new Driveshact (dual Cardon shaft) for the autotrac trucks are used b/c at hwy speeds the front DS will be spinning and can cause Vibration and extra wear of the DS.

Fabtech doesnot require the replacement driveshaft because the front diff is only dropped 4 or 4.5" (cant remember). Not the full 6" like the front diff is dropped on kits like Procomp, Superlift, or CST to name 3.

Hope this answers your question :jester:

The answer to that question seems to be more Opinion than anything.

The knuckle lifts that only drop the diff. 4" like RCD or Fabtech will get you 6" up in the air. But at that 6" your CV haft angles will be about the same as a Full drop kit's angles cranked to about 7".

That make sence?

You will have more room to crank and go higher with the Full 6" dropped kits than you will with the 4" kits.

A 4" drop diff 6" kit set at 6" over stock will have the same CV angles as a FullDrop 6" kit set at around 7"

Now if you have no need to ever crank your bars up to clear bigger tires. Or want to stick with a 33 or something that is fine. But IMO when you are trying to clear larger tires where you will need that little extra height the Full drop kit just makes more sence.

Drop everything to keep it in its relative location as it was stock IMO..
