BBK or MAS?

Recommended Posts

Hey there people!

I have some cash I want to throw into the ol' 6.0L and need your opinions. Should I get a BBK 80mm throttle body bolted on for $400 or a Granatelli MAS for $270?

Both claim a 10 hp gain but I've heard nothing but BAD things about Granatelli.

Thanks!

Eddie

Neither.

You do not need a larger t-body unless you are going to add forced air induction such as a blower.

It is well known where I run the Grannitelli MAF's are a RIP. You do not need a hi dollar cold air intake either. A K&N will help a tad much cheaper. I have seen a before and after dyno run that resulted in just under 2 HP at the wheels on a non forced induction vehicle. At over $200.00, it's a rip.

Note: Before installing a new K&N element I let is sit overnight indoors, covered, on some news paper incase there is too much oil in it. Then after a couple of weeks remove my MAF sensor and carefully clean the elements with contact cleaner. Any oil build up on it will make the MAF lie to the pcm with negative results. After that it's good to go until it needs servicing.

A Nelsonperformance.com tune is the best money I have spent. Allen Nelson is great. The install is simple. If you make another mod, tell him and he will ship you another pcm adjusted to it for shipping only. I used to run a Predator hand held programmer. I truly wasted my $$$$ in comparison. I used it to monitor and record my diagnostics of my first tune. Then I sent him the results and he used the info to dial in another pcm to get me spot on. I got the 93 octane tune. I am getting better gas mileage now too. You should get at least 25 more HP at the wheels. He also owns a dyno. He has tuned may trucks like yours.

This will wake your truck up big time. Call and talk to him about your application. He is a busy fellow so an email reply may be slow but it will come.

You will be glad you did. Believe me, I have done all the wrong things before getting this Tune.
