New Chevy Aluminum Alloy Rims On GMC

Recommended Posts

I have a 2004 GMC 3500 SRW, 8100, 4:10 rear end. (By the way, I lost almnost 2 miles per gal by going to a K&N air filter) I purchased a set of Aluminum Alloy rims from a guy who just took them off his brand new Chevy. I had the steel rims standrad on my SLE. The tires fit fine, but the GMC axle covers won't fit the Chevy rims. The original GMC axle covers are to big. So now I am driving around with Chevy covers. It looks like the GMC and Chevy little round emblem is put on with silicone. I was wondering if I could heat them up, remove and then replace. Anyone ever had the experience? Maybe someone has a set they want to trade? Maybe someone has some different ideas?

Be careful of the K&N air filter. I put one on my 2002 GMC 8.1. The engine light came on and when the dealer read the code it was the Mass Airflow Sensor. The dealer would not do the warranty work while the K&N was in the truck. The said the oil from the K&N filter was to much for the sensor to read correctly. They gave me a copy of a GM Technical bulletin on it.
