having aftermarket exhaust blues!

Recommended Posts

stopped by my local and highly praised shop today for estimates, and was disappointed when they told me flowmaster hasnt put out info yet for '03's!

i was told flowmaster should have a dual kit but hasnt added it yet to their list. installed around $300.00. the shop called thier supplier to confirmed this. i could have the shop completely make a duel set up for a lot more than i wished to pay.

first issue is this: i want minimal interior resonance and was looking at flomaster 50 or 70 series. checking the forum lately, there are lot of happy members with a dual muffler application from magnaflow.

i only budgeted about $300.00, i want a hook up asap. anyone with '03 8.1 with flowmaster or magnaflow. looking for dual outlet, side exit.

i need help, any advice opinions!?

think i may of answered my own question somewhat. for some reason, maybe compression issues,i was unable to locate a kit from any manufacture that provided duals out the rear for the 8.1. unless of course you paid for a custom pipe bending job. i found two things from flowmaster which is the brand im leaning toward. one way is a 50 series muffler pn 530513, 3" dual in and a single 3.5" out which matches stock muffler. i wonder if i could use my stock piping and install this at home myself for around $200.00? the second way is a system by flowmaster called the force II pn 17328. it included all piping, hardware and muffler for $471.00, but doesnt say what series it is. i assume 50. also, the kit is only listed for 01 and 02' model years. i would imagine that it would fit and 03'???

If you try this at home you will need to fabricate pieces of pipe to join to the stock system once you cut the muffler out. I think it would be best to take it to a shop and get them to weld the 530513 up in place of the stock muffler and you should be out of there for under $300.

Werd, dawg :D

The 70 series is what comes in all the Force II kits. I've got one on my 7.4 ltr, just wish it was a tad louder. Although I don't have any drone at all :D

Doesn't your shop make custom exhaust??? Why would they order kits and install them? Confusing...

If so, ask them how much duals out the rear would be, or even a 3" single. If it's too much, just go w/ the muffler swap. You'll be out for under $200

check out this thread: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...aster+50+series

I like this setup although it's a little too quite for my taste (my '99 5.3 has no muffler, just pipe after the cats and sounds about right to me dB-wise)

I've got right at $300 in the system, $120 for the flowmaster, $40 for each stainless tip, and $100 for the install with custom tailpipes.

i think i made a mistake on my order  . got under the 8.1 and i didnt realize the stock muffler has two in and two out. i cancelled, and ordered pn 530504 for duals.

midnight, it appears im interested in the same set up you have( hope you dont mind)! . you would do us 8.1 owners great justice by posting some pics at least. some sound also would be much appreciated!
