A/C on the blink

Recommended Posts

Symptoms:

After about an hour or so with fan on medium (3/5), and temp on coldest, the air from the A/C vents begins getting warmer. The fan speed slows, i.e. when on 3, it feels like it is on 1. Small pieces of ice shoot out of the A/C vents. Turn it off for 10 minutes or so to let it thaw out and works for another hour or so.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I kinda figured it was a sensor or switch of some sort. Anyone ever tried to replace this? How much work is it? Ought I take it to the stealer?

Piece of cake to replace. It is right out in the open and has a schrader valve under it so you will not loose freon when you do it. Thread one out and thread in the replacement.

also it can be as simple as a dirty filter. Remember the window ac units that freeze up if the filter gets dirty. Could do the same thing I bet

THis is possible but I had a simulair problem on a 89 once and it was the switch.
