Transmission recalls

Recommended Posts

Took the 2500hd today to a Chevy dealer, they wouldnt look at it since it's a GMC.

GMC dealer says it takes 8 hours to "inspect" Chevy dealer says it takes 30 minutes.

What exactly are they looking for so I can do my own inspection. I dont have 8 hours to waste of taking off of work. :jester:

The inspection takes about 1/2 hour tops. The transmissions are on vehicles from the willow run plant that were produced around march 1 of 2004. There were about 8000 on the road when discovered and another 17000 in transit. The in transit were held up until they were inspected and the released. The problem was a faulty pump that may prevent lubrication from reaching overdrive gearset bearings. So the only problem would be the overdrive and not the other gears. They have to check to see if the hole in the pump is the right size. But I can't figure why the chevy dealer wouldn't look at it. Does he have a beef with the GMC dealer? But the chevy guys are right about the time it takes.

I seem to remember another post/thread on this Forum concerning GMC / Chevy dealers accepting/rejecting each others warranty work...It does not make any sense to me,they pretty much come off of the same assy line...Must just be TURF WARS... :sigh:
