LLY chip

Recommended Posts

Edge is coming out with their Juice+Attitude for the LLY in the next couple of weeks. Heard some were shipped already. That would be the best choice, IMO. Saw one run on the dyno and it put down some good numbers. Comparable to the Juice on the LB7.

Whole lots of info about it on Diesel Place

If you run in the Juice in level 5 and run it hard, you may start slipping 5th gear (limp mode). Do that too much and it's just a matter of time before you need to upgrade the tranny. A beefed up tranny also puts more power to the ground, as there is proven slippage when in level 5 on shown on the dyno. It's just too much for it. Stay in level 4 and you should be fine. Lot's of guys been running level 4 for thousands of miles with no problems other than bald tires. :jester:

Trans Slippage Info/Dyno Plot

I've never run mine in the 1/8 or 1/4, but it will do around 6 sec, 0-60mph. There is a built in 1/4 mi timer on the Attitude, but haven't tried it yet. Also has the 0-60 timer too.

Bilsteins are great. Only put them on the front to help reduce the pogo effect. I raised the front end by turning the torsion bar bolts which made it bounce more, and the Bilsteins calmed it down. Should get rears though to eliminate some of the bounce as well, but was more concerned with the front right now.

I think the Attitude is worth it. It'll cost you more if you add it on later. Plus, you get EGT and boost displays which are handy. Especially if you're towing on a higher power level.

To crank up the torsion bars, get underneath and look at the crossmember where the torsion bars are held. Just about under the drivers door. Look for the bolt that is pointing up to the torsion bar and start cranking. Clockwise will raise, counterclockwise will lower. Take a ground to fender measurement of each side to get it level and that's it. I didn't jack my front wheels up but some do to make it easier to turn the bolts. After a couple turns of the bolts, take a drive to let the suspension settle and repeat if you desire more height.

Do a search here and you'll find dozens of threads about it.

KennedyDiesel.com has the Bilsteins.......and Juice stuff. :sigh:

It's very simple to install. Basically plug-n-play. You'll have to route the Attitude cable into the cab, and if you want to monitor your EGT's (which I suggest) a hole will need to be drilled into the exhaust manifold for the pyrometer. That then plugs directly to the Juice box which is mounted under the hood (near or on the fusebox typically).

I opened up my stock airbox a little with a dremel (the popular swiss-cheese style) but haven't put an aftermarket on yet. Waiting for AFE to come out with a plastic tube for their kit and then maybe I'll consider.

BTW, I ran a 1/4 mile test using the Attitude as a timer yesterday. 15.3sec/94mph. That was on level 4 (+90HP), no boost launch, 2WD. First time I've tried it, so I'm not sure how that stacks up. I do know the EGT's were tickling the red on the end of the run (~1300°), so if I plan to run it anymore like that a free-flowing exhaust will be a must! That's why I didn't even try level 5 (+125hp).

:sigh:

cool...does this help gas milage....

The Juice improved my MPG's by 1-2 per gallon on the highway. My city MPG remains the same - mostly because I can't help but smash the go pedal to the floor at red lights. The extra power from the Juice is addictive and impressive.

You'll easily blow your warranty if you don't remove the Juice before bringing it in for service. Even if you go to the dealer to have them check your tire pressure- remove the juice. It takes less than 5 minutes to remove it.
