Snow Plow Prep Package?

Recommended Posts

Any of you with the snow plow prep package on their 2500HD? I would like to know where the wires are located for the Auxiliary Lamp switch that is located on the dash. I would like to install a grille guard with some off-road lights and use this switch to power them.

Bart.....The wires you are looking for are a heavy Brown + and

a heavy black - . (after the relay)

They run on the floor up the left side rear pillar next to the back window

and the wires dead end in the roof.

There will also be a relay mounted on the pillar .

If you have a reg cab you can remove the plastic piece. If you have a x-cab

its a PIA cause you have to take off the seat belt anchor and the seat back !

I just fish mine out of the headliner for a roof beacon.............

I have a 2500HD extended cab, just did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I was able to pull down the headliner a little bit in the center by the door latch, it has a velcro attachment at that point. I was able to see the wires so I pulled them out and found that they were long enough to go down the front pillar and land right in the fuse box on the left end of the dash where I made the connection to my KC Daylighters. :banghead:

Cool! :banghead:

That's what I had in mind. That switch is just too handy to not be used for something.

In the crew cab you can get at the wires at the relay at the bottom of the A pilar on the drivers side. The wires run along the sill plate I think. So If that is true you should be able to add your own relay before the sill plate and run the wires forward. I used the factory relay and ran off it to the rear for my ladder rack strobe light. If your no sure if your in the right place push the switch and listen for the relay.
