GMS preadtor tuner

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a GMS predator programmer for my 2002 GMC Denali and I follow all of the directions for it and after plugging it into the OBD-II port and turning the ignition key to ON position nothing appears or is displayed. Do I need to send it back to where I purchased it from? Or is there a step I'm missing?

For the longest time I was trying to get parts stores to pull an engien code for me, but I was having the same problem as you. I just kinda ended up jiggling all the connections, making sure the pins where all the way in the slots, etc and it jsut worked one day. Good luck man.

derek_silverado thanks for the reply. I've tried wiggling it and still nothing. I think I'm gonna take the truck down to GMC and make sure that it has the factory tune for that year. It's a Canadian Denali so I was thinking maybe when they changed the kilometers to miles that they reflashed it with maybe an '03 or even an '04 factory tune. It's the only thing that makes sense. Unless of course the '99-'02 predator is suppose to still power up for an '03 or '04 and just not be able to tune it. I'm lost and this kinda stuff always happens to me on a weekend too. Guess I'll have to wait til Monday and call diablo.

Actually it seems to run better( shifting and throttle response). I haven't really gotten a chance to do too much freeway driving yet. One thing that is weird is sometimes when I hit 40mph it does a weird shift. I wanna call it a down shift but it feels like it slips outta gear for a hot second then back in. The rpm's drop down or below 1000 but it doesn't shift right. It's weird. My buddy at work said that his truck did the same thing until he put his cold air intake on. I don't get my volant ice box til tuesday with the mass airflow sensor to go with it. I think I'm gonna go down to this truck shop and see if they know what it is. Or I might put the factory tune back until I get the ice box. Anyone else have same experience?

That sounds almost like the problem I had with a Superchips tuner. The 1-2 shift had a huge delay/slip and took like a second or two to get into 2nd gear. I felt the tranny would destroy itself pretty quick shifting like that! Three times I sent it back and they could not fix the problem.

I hope you have better results than I did!

try this:

disconnect the negative battery terminal, press the horn button and brake

pedal for 1-2mins, reconnect the negative cable, and retest.

this is a purge of the history and "bad habits" the computer may know about.

blanking this out can eliminate these old habits and start from a clean slate.

I had that program before payin a thousand bucks for this sweet new 1. I liked it but ya i know wat u mean about the down shift delay thing. It only happens during normal driving conditions though, if u do a launch and race it that delay doesnt happen, most chips have a little thing like that under normal driving conditions
