Hi Everybody - I'm Back!!!

Recommended Posts

HELLO THERE!!! It's been awhile since I've been on the board. Hope everyone's doing well. I'm doing just SUPER! Moved to the country in October 03. Love it out there. I have a new sweetie and he's just a wonderful guy. Life couldn't be better and I'm very happy!

We've been going to car shows, dirt races and riding the New 04 Harley Electraglide. Obviously not getting much done around the house lately. Gotta trade that morotcycle in for a Kabota BX2200. Yea, right..

My new sweetie is a Chevy man too! Between he and I we've got: my 2500HD Sierra, a 1979 2 Door Malibu Classic (Green as green can be, awsome car), a 2001 Chevy Express 2500 Van, a 1982 Chevy 1500 pickup, my 1999 Honda CRV (commuter car) and 3 Harley's. 2 Electraglides and one Sportster. Soon as I get someplace to post pics on, I'll send some.

Now for my question. I told Lance I'd ask about this on the board. He's pretty knowledgeable and quite handy when it comes to vehicles, but he's never heard of this one before. It's very weird and concerns the 2001 Chevy Express Van. When filling the gas tank, the fuel goes in VERY SLOWLY. It's not the sensor on the pump either, ya know how it shuts off to prevent overfilling the tank? It takes FOREVER to fill the 34 gallon tank. As soon as you put any amount of pressure on the pump lever, it shuts off, when in fact, the tank is nowhere near full and even if you pull the nozzle out of the fill as far as you possibly can, the fuel still has to be trickled in. Is there some kind of vent or valve or some other sensor inside the tank or the fill neck of the van (??) that would cause this to happen?

We'd appreciate any insight you guys might have on this.

Hi Lauriet

I had the same problem with my '02 Xterra. Turned out to be a bad 'Fuel Vapour Cut Valve', which is located in the fuel tank.

They had to replace my fuel tank. Now it fills up quickly and without the pump shutting off every couple of litres. :seeya:

Cheers!
