2004 Windshield Tint

Has anyone noticed that the top 4 inches of windshield tint is gone on the new trucks? Is there a reason for this? I thought this was some sort of safety feature developed a long time ago. I was just missing it today driving home from work into the sun. Has anyone put their own tint up there to help the sun glare?

I've been using my $15 polarized sunglasses for driving. So I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. Don't know why they did that. At least they put the dot matrix under the rear view mirror.

Just noticed Saturday. My 03 Silverado SS Has it, but my 04 Sierra 2500HD Does Not!!!! Also the 03 SS has a light in the glove box and the 04 Sierra Doesn't!!!

Just think, if GM builds 500,000 trucks per year ( Not sure what the actual number is) and they delete the glovebox light at say $10.00 per truck, thats $5 Million per model year in savings. (Not to mention the yearly price increases). They should hire me...I would give them idease like that and they can give me 1/2 of what I save them!!!

Same thing here I'm almost considering taking a pellet gun to it and telling 'em it's an '03

They also did away with the underhood light (on mine at least). Wonder how much that saved GM

mka18, For what it is worth, I work at a Dodge,jeep,chrysler,lincoln,mercury dealer (new car prep&clean)none of the new cars have the blue tint at the top of the windshield anymore as of 2004.Gov't thing I believe. Later,Rob.

Well, that sucks! Go to the tinting place and have them put a strip of tint across the windshield, I did that to my 03' Stratus and it looks really nice and it eliminates the sun in my eyes!.

It’s hard to believe that everyone has taken tint away. I’m sure I’ll get use to it, I just got to be sure to take the sunglasses more often. No wonder GM and everyone else can offer all these incentives; they keep taking away the niceties like lights under the hood and Window Tint! Maybe they’ll take away the seats next year and give 6k in discounts! Hahahaha. j/k

Right now for GM and the other car companies, it comes down to what ever they can do to save money. The car business is not all that great right now. That is why all the incentives to buy. It does stink that they have to remove useful things that cost very little, but save them millions...

I am also without a hood light and top tint. But I have 7 cupholders!!!!! cant complain about that. Maybe marketing found that cupholders were more valuable to customers than lights and tint. What do you think?
