Power limiter/reducer?

Recommended Posts

There is a rev limitaion, and a speed limitation programmed in to the computer.

I think the rev limiter is about 5500 RPM, so under normal driving you should never reach it.

The speed limiter is set at 105mph I believe here in th States.

Hope this helps.

It could be torque management that you are referring to. When you start out and between shifts if the computer senses a lot of torque being applied to the drivetrain it will pull some timing to ease the strain on the drivetrain and transmission and maybe reduce the line pressure in the tranny. This causes the truck to feel really flat and unresponsive and greatly reduces your fun factor. I am not sure how much torque management there is in an 03 2500 6.0 but probably not as much as a 1500 with the 4l60e. You can get a programmer that will among other things allow you to have torque management reduced or eliminated all together. I have a Superchips that seems to do the job for me but there are lots others including the popular tuned PCMs by Westers, Nelsons or PCMforless to name 3 and several handheld tuners by Superchips,HPP3 and Diablo Sport that may also do the trick. Check before you buy!

You may be crazy but I doubt that you are going nuts. :D

I think you are feeling the torque management.

With the TM in place, you can usually launch harder by not flooring the accelerator. The TM takes away your power to save driveline components.

Like was mentioned in the previous post, there are several options to remove the TM from your PCM.
