2500HD, How the Heck to I get the Plastic Cover ov

Recommended Posts

These plastic lugs on my 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD don't have threads on them because I pulled one off. It didn't come off easy and looks like it was meant to stay on the cap.

It seems like they want you to take the whole cap off as a unit.

I pryed lightly with a screwdriver, but it's hard to tell if I will break the cap or if it was meant to come off that way.

I don't want to break and and of course my manual doesn't say how to get the cap off.

My 04 lugnut caps are threaded.I know this for a fact because someone at the dealership didn't put my driver's rear wheel cap on correctly and I almost lost it.I basically had to remove and then reinstall it but the interior of the cover was definitely threaded.

They are threaded just not much of a thread and easy to overtighten so don't overdo it. They have a little nubbins on the bottom that clicks into a notch in the center cover when they are tight enough to keep them from backing off but they don't always seem to line up exactly so keep an eye on them. Just check them when you wash the truck to make sure they are still snug.
