AAARGHH!! RADIX fuel pump won't fit!!!

Recommended Posts

HELP!!! :flag: I'm installing a Magnacharger RADIX system in my 2003 GMC 1500 RCSB and everything was going reasonably well, until it came to installing the extra fuel pump. The instructions show it being installed at the fuel filter location, and the pics show a spot along the frame rail with lots of room and long fuel lines which can easily be bent to accommodate the pump. Well, on my truck the filter area does not look like that at all. Going from rear to front along the frame rail there is: a cross member, the ABS modulator, the fuel filter, and another cross member, with no space in between the items. The span between the cross members is not even enough to fit in the pump. The lines going to the pump are very short, with numerous sharp bends, and are held tightly in place by plastic brackets from which they cannot be pulled. There is no way they can be moved enough to attach to the pump. Lastly, right in front of all this mess, running parallel to the frame rail, is a large bar, which looks like a torsion bar. In short, there is just no way the existing kit is going to fit.

I plan to call Magnacharger Monday to see if they can help, as I'm sure they have seen this before. Is there any particular person I should talk to? It appears a possible solution would be to remove the fuel filter, and attach to the fuel lines some right angle fittings which can in turn attach to some flexible fuel line. From there it should be possible to connect everything, and support it with some kind of mounting bracket. Anyway I want to get Magnacharger's recommendation before I go and jerry-rig anything together.

Peace and Cool-ness,
