Ordered my tires

Recommended Posts

I got a heck of a deal on the 285/75/16 BFG Mud Terrains from Sears. Sams club had them for $187.00, Sears had them for $197.00. Needless to say I went to sears with their price match garuntee. I had them order 4 for only $175.00 each. That's a great price. They'll have to go on the stock wheels for now till I find a nice set of aftermarket wheels that look halfway decent.

I cant wait!

Same setup I've got. You'll love them! The road noise is not even as bad as I thought it would be. Make sure to trim your air d**n and possibly even crank those t-bars a little. I evened mine out and raised it an additional 1.5" and they just make it without rubbing anything.

I had a set of 285 BFG All-Terrains mounted last week on my 2004 Sierra 2500HD CC (on PYO Forged Aluminum factory wheels)

It went like this...take the truck in at the time I'm told...9:00 am when I get there I am told they can't get to it until 10:00...ok run some errands go back at 10:00 and get taken right in. I asked the guy behind the counter if they use coated whel weights and he said "always".

The truck is done in 45 minutes, I pay and take the old 245 "car" tires to the dealer I bought my truck from to be installed on my 2002 2500HD I traded.

My friend who is ths General Manager comes out to look at the truck with the new tires on it, and we notice it has standard lead wheel weights on it.

I took it directly back to the tire shop and told them I wanted the weights changed. Now I'm wasting another hour waiting for the tires to be re-balanced. I go for lunch and come back to pick up the truck.

Now the truck has coated weights on it, but now I notice there are all kinds of scratches and "dings" in the wheels like they missed the weight and hit the wheel with the hammer. I went right back in and showed the guy behind the counter and he said he would order a new wheel for me. Upon closer inspection ALL 4 WHEELS had some type of damage!!! Now they owe me 4 new wheels.

The next day the manager of the tire shop called me and asks when I can bring the truck in so they can put temporary steel wheels and tires on so they can send my wheels out to be "repaired".

I told him I did not want repaired wheels on a truck with 1200 miles on it. As a matter of fact I told him I wanted him to get the "NEW" wheels and another new set of tires so he can have them mounted and balanced before I get there so I don't have to wait for them to dismount and remount and rebalance the tires on the new wheels. I also told him I did not want any weights on the front of the wheels, so they used stick on weights on the inside.

I am happy to say he complied and had 4 new wheels and tires waiting fo me on Thursday, only to find out the stick on weights were already falling off 2 of the wheels before they were even mounted on my truck!!!

Then he had to re-balance 2 of the wheels. After that they mounted them on my truck and I was on my way.

The manager was whining to me that the wheels cost $390.00 EACH!!! I told him it was not my problem and if they didn't damage my wheels in the first place, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Sorry for the long post, but I had to get it out of my system.

By the way...I love the tires...had them on my 2002....

Anyone interested in a set of 4 8 Lug Forged Factory wheels????? Cheap???

The way I did it was, go to e-bay and buy a set of new factory rims, bring them to the tire shop and have them mounted off the truck.I put a set of 285 Revo's on and didn't have to wait. Those tires are the balls and only wheel weights on 1 rim,They have a funny way to balance the tire to the rim with the wieght block thats in the tire marked by a little yellow circle.OK I had to wait 15 minutes to have them switch the tires on the truck when I arrived.Sorry you had a bad exprience.

I've got the torsion bars cranked just enough so it's level. I'm getting an alignment that has a 6 month warranty. SO, if it rubs, or is close to rubbing, I"ll swap the green keys in, change the shocks, and tell them the alignment feels funny.

I dont think I'll have an issue rubbing. There's been people that have just cranked the t-bars and fit 285's. If it rubs the front bumper, I'll move it forward and in the rear, just zip-tie the splash shield back.

I'll get pics as soon as I get them on.

Sears tried telling me yesterday that the wheels werent avail. anymore and that BF goodrich didnt make them. I said BS, so I have to wait till monday when they can officially get them ordered. They mentioned a backorder, but I'd rather get BFG than Goodyears...
