Aftermarket 8-Lug Wheels

Recommended Posts

I'm interested in getting some quality wheels for my 2500 HD. I don't plan on a lift, and I want to keep a basically stock setup as far as offset and backspacing go. I'd also like to stay with a 16" wheel, preferably 8" wide.

So far I like Boyd Coddintons, but they're just too expensive. I've found some Panthers and Centerlines that I like, as well as some Eagles.

Are all of these companies makers of quality wheels. What are some other good manufacturers to consider? I'd like to stay with a heavy load rating, 3200 + pounds.

Thanks!

I love Weld wheels but I've heard some less than desireable things on their wheels for heavyier duty applications on trucks. No personal experience, just 3rd party so I wouldn't take it for much but I'd definitely research it before I bought.

Centerline,Eagle and ARE are all solid brands.

How about Ultras? I don't want to break the bank here, but I want to buy quality the first time. It seems like everyone and their dog around here has American Racing. I'm sure they're a good brand, but I think I want something a little different.

I have Ultra type 50/51's on my '99 2wd Rado, I really like them, they require a little elbow grease every once in a while to polish, but always come out looking great. Even in the 6 lug they are rated @ 3200 lbs.

I was looking at a set of American Eagles (type 184) for my 2001 2500HD 4x4. They are rated @ 3400 lbs which I find very impressive for cast aluminum. Maybe I'll end up going with a set of H2 take offs?

Good luck on what ever you decide and keep us posted

I'll look into Alcoa's some more, but so far I haven't found any of their wheels that I really like.

Also, my uncle has a set of Alcoa's on his 1 ton Powerstroke, and he had one crack out. For as stout as they are supposed to be, we weren't very impressed with this one, but I won't rule them out.

I'm really looking at the Centerline Scout. I like this wheel, it has a good warranty, and it's a one piece forged design rated at 3200 pounds. Any experience with these?

I too have been in search of some 8 bolt wheels. I did locate a set of Panthers with tires for a mear $1583.00 shipped to the house ready to put on. So, after really searching more........and the prices going as high as $2385.00 for the same deal, I called the first party to put in an order. Well after checking their stock, they told me they were out of stock and would not have any for 45-60 days. Not a nice deal now!
