got stuck

Recommended Posts

recently, my check engine light came on and the truck just hasn't been feelin right lately.a few weeks ago went muddin' & got stuck bad. real bad. the front tires were under water and the water level was just at the bottom of the rocker panels. the entire under carrige was bottomed out. the rear was just anchoring me still. i tried rocking but only went down deeper and deeper. the motor was in the water enough where as the the crank pully was acting as a water wheel shootin h20 all over the alt. eventually killing the batt.. i had to leave it there over night. came back the next mornin w/ my '78 k25 and a friend & i got it out after a total of 16 hrs. in the water. ever since the light came, on i keep thinkin' that i messed up somethin' from that excursion. the air filter meter says that filter should be changed. i have only 32k on the truck . the only thing i can think of is that the air filter got super dirty quick and is playing games hith the computer. what do y'all think? i am going to take it in , but i want to know what everybody else thinks.

been a member for a while, always checkin' in, just don't post that much. this is the best site.!:D:D

Too bad, I hate leaving stuff in the woods.

This is what I think:

If your air filter meter says the filter is dirty (I assume the one on the intake pipe) it means there is an air restriction down stream from the meter and too much vacuum is being created in the intake pipe. So, your air filter is way plugged, your intake box is full of mud and restrictive or the air inlet in plugged with mud. You should inspect your air filter if it's clean and the filter meter still shows in the red, look for restrictions (mud) in the box or air inlet. Do not run the engine without the filter or with the filter box open. That filter meter is pretty fool proof. It is just spring pressure Vs the vacuum created by your engine. If it's sucked into the red there is an air restriction somewhere. These engine computers look at exhaust emissions as one of the reasons for turning on the check engine light. If you have an intake restriction you will have dirty exhaust and the light will glow.

Good luck and keep on motoring! :D

The best answer is to take your truck someplace that can read the code that turned on the check engine light. That way, you will know exactly what is going on with no guessing. There are a lot of auto parts stores around me that will read the codes for you for free. Autozone is one if you have those near you. :D

although the filter is shot, i had to get gas today. after fillin' up , the light didn't come back on. so my assumption is, is that not only do i have a crappy filter, but i also had some crappy gas. i'm goin' to keep an eye on it , change the filter, still take it in, & let y'all know what happens. thanx for talkin' back!! meat. :D:cool::D:D btw. i'll never, ever ,ever, ever, take my ride to an auto parts store to check any of my sh*t!!!!
