Manual to Auto AC controls

Recommended Posts

I currently have the manual AC controls and was wondering if anyone has replaced the dash controls from the manual to the auto controls? I am not really wanting the full automatic capability and understand that there are a bunch of sensors for this, but just like the looks of the automatic controls vs. the manual controls. Is this possible?

Well, heck, I thought I would be Mr. Know-It-All and find you the message exchanges we have had in the past about this very thing. I searched and couldn't find them. Just not using the correct key words.

Anyway, I don't think any of the folks who have tried this were successful, even with a dealer's assistance. But, I can't find the messages. Maybe someone else will join in and have the link where the messages are located.

It might be one of those things that may be better off left alone.

-Controls need to be changed.

-Headlight sensor senses sunlight to adjust climate. When you have automatic AC going and you drive out of the sun and into some shade you can hear the fan slow down.

-Sensor above driver's head senses heat from driver's head in order to help adjust the climate on the driver's side.

-Outside temp is also used as input to the automatic climate control.

-The above work in conjunction with one another inorder to adjust the automatic climate.

You wouldnt be able to just switch them out because the c2 connector on the manual ac is for blower speed and the auto ac controls c2 connector is for the sensors and the auto blower wires the are totaly diffrent connectors even.

 It would take tons of $$$. You have to switch out the 4 modules inbedded in the dash. The ones you currently have are for manual air and they have to be switched to auto air. You would have to install the auto temp vent in your headliner and switch out harness, reprogram the bcm and buy the control unit itself. Estimated at around $3,000. If not more. Stick with what you have.
