Air Bag Deactiviation Switch

Hi everyone,

 

I am having trouble finding the air bag deactiviation switch on my 2004 2500HD LS Crew Cab D/A with bench seats. I have gone through the owners manual and the switch is no where to be found near the glove compartment. Where is it??

I dont think there is one on the crew cab due to the fullsize backseat.

 

Same reason there isnt one on Tahoes or Suburbans.

It's not on the dash on the right side below the vent?

Not in anything with a full backseat.

I guess GM decided we should never carry more than three kids with us at a time. I was hoping someone would be able to come up with a mod using the factory switch to disable it.

Crew cabs don't have the switch but I too wish mine did!! I would mod it in a heart beat...

I thought some (maybe 03’s?) had a sensor in the passenger seat and a light on the rearview mirror so you could tell if it was on or off?

The '04 has the passenger presence system.

 

You should have a little light on teh rearview mirror that says whether the Air Bag is enabled or not.

 

THe system works by weight of passenger and seat position.

My 04' crew cab doesn't have the passenger sensing system or the key switch. However, I was recently in a 04' Yukon and it has the passenger sensing system so I am familiar with how the rear view mirror is suppose to look like.

 

Maybe, I have the passenger sensing system but GM forgot to install the special rear view mirror in my truck!

I believe that the indicator of the air bag on the rearview mirror is not on all 2500 HD crew cab trucks. My truck is the LS version, and does not have an indicator on the mirror, or a switch to deactivate. In the GM owner book it is not clear if all crew cabs have the passenger sensing system.
