How To Crank Up Torsion Bars?

Recommended Posts

Begin by jacking the front end off the ground, let the tires lift off the ground to take a lot of the stress off the torsion bars. You may want to place jack stands under it too.

Crank your bars, by tighten adjusting bolts with an 18mm socket. (count the turns so you can return it to the stock height, if you ever decided to)

You will also need to do an alignment.

hope that helps

By the way the tortion bar adjusters are near the cross member and don't lift 'em too hight because I heard that stock tortion bars can snap if they are too tight and get a lot of stress by hitting something (hole in the street)

You can by some custom TB and the adjuster so you ca lift it higher and be more secure in the same time.

I hear that someone lift his truck with stock TB and put some 31' tires.

then one TB snap and the body fetl down on his tire and blowed it.

I just paid $45.00 for a thrust angle alignment. Check at a couple of reputable shops near you and pick one. My truck was in serious need for alignment before I installed the Ford keys and cranked 'em up a little. I t actually drove better after the cranking, but drives GREAT now after the alignment and new tires.
