Gears and/or Converter on a Supercharged Tahoe

Recommended Posts

Folks:

My signature has the details of the truck; it now has 3.73 gears. It is a daily driver and although a Z71, will rarely see even a dirt road. It may pull a 5,000 lb trailer, occasionally.

If you could only do one of these: 4:56 gears front and rear with an Eaton Posi or a Yank Truck Thruster 2,800 - 3,000 stall converter, which would you do and why?

If you thought you were going to stop after one if you were really satisfied at that point, which would you do first and why?

Regards,

Durkin :):cheers::chevy::chevy:

YANK IT BUDDY!! YANK IT!!! You will have much more fun with the Yank. Go for the TT3000. Most say the 2800 isnt enough. You will retain dam near stock towing capacity with either converter. Yanks are THE best verter to get. Besides the PI Vig converters. But they are pretty pricey. Then again the Yanks are too. But The Vig would be my second choice for a converter. You wont stop after just one thing, it keeps going and going and going! Cam wasnt enough for me... Now I want to do heads!

Im opting for a converter out of an 03 Trailblazer. It will stall to 2600RPM behind the 5.3. STR isnt any different than the stock Silverado converter but hey. Its less expensive than the Yank. Stock Silverado converter is 300mm in size. The TB converter is slightly smaller at 280mm. Nice part about the Trailblazer with the 4.2L inline-6 is that it has a high towing capacity. So losing towing capabilites with the converter in a silverado is nonexistant. Best part is it only costs $290 bucks new from GM!

Definatley go with the converter! 4.56 gears seem kinda steep for the street, and your tire size. Especially since its your daily driver. Just make sure you install a good tranny cooler. The TB converter idea sounds interesting, I haven't heard that one. Let us know what you decide. :thumbs:
