DMAX/ALLISON Added weight?

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know how much of my payload the DMAX/ALLISON combo takes from a 2500HD? I don't have a truck yet so I can't check the door. The 2500HD specs 9200# GVWR. The curb weight of my preferred configuration (4x4,CC,SWB) is 5858# base configuration. I assume that a few options tubular assist, skid plate, mirror upgrades and LT package will add a few hundred pounds at best. But adding the DMAX/ALLISION must be significant I guess 400#? So at base configuration they spec 9200-5858=3342. Buy how much of that will I really lose with the diesel and options? Also it seems a good portion of the diesel weight increase will show up on the front axle. The specs for the front axle is 4800# and the rear axle 6900#, rear springs 6084#. I'm trying to figure out how many people, how much equipment and how heavy a wet slide-in camper I can safely carry. I think the GVWR can be exceeded by at least 10%, but the tire weight, spring weight and axle weight should not. Anybody have thoughts?

The GVWR is indeed 9200LBS. Mine weighs in @ 7240. That leave me with a real payload of 1960Lbs. I know many will exceed the GVWR by 5 or 10%, but 10% is 920 Lbs, that is too much, Maybe 150 or 200lbs but that would be max-max.

The GCWR is 22000 or 22500Lbs, not sure which.

I read somewhere that with the dmax you can't use the larger v plows because they overload the front axle. Appearantly you can get some overloads for the front but aren't advised by gm. However it doesn't overload with the 8.1 or 6.0. I wasn't aware that the dmax was that much heavier.
