Vibrations???

Recommended Posts

I have a 02' GMC 2500HD 4x4 with about 42000 miles on it and I have a vibration or knocking on occasions. It seems to only happen though after I have backed up and start to accelerate. It only last 10-15 secs and then quit. I've read the posted articles about a two-piece drive shaft, but I have a one piece. Anyone else having this problem? I'm leaving towards maybe something in the front-end (aka 4wd), but not sure. thanks.

I got under it today and check out the drive shafts all good there. So I was sitting there and raised the RPM's up on the engine while in park and when I let off it did it then. First time ive noticed while sitting still. I did this a few times and then it quit and wouldn't do it anymore. Any Ideas now? Sounds like the starter hitting the flywheel? Maybe something to do with the transmission in Park? (Kinda sounds like the sound made if you put an automatic in park while still rolling.) What about bearings on something thats belt drivin? Any suggestions guys? ANy other problems like this? I'm taking it in next week to the dealership and let warranty wrk take care of this. But I would love to be able to tell them when i got there what it was so I wouldn't be without my truck for several days. Any ideas accepted at this point.

Could it be the exhaust hitting on a cross member or something? Have a close look at the exhaust anywhere it runs close to the body or chassis of the truck you may be able to see signs of wear.

Good luck with finding this vibration. It can be frustreating tracking down problems like this.
