Spark Plugs

Recommended Posts

I am getting ready to change out my plugs. I am currently using the Champion Truck Plug #4013's. I see many of you run the NGK TR6 or TR55. I have also seen the NGK Iridium plug. Is there any concensus as to what is best?

I have been runing the NGK Irridiums in my truck for over 10,000mi now and they work great. Still running the factory wires. I have almost 60,000mi on my truck. No problems at all. They are supposed to last a long time. :P

Anyone willing to provide their reasoning for using the NGK T55 over the Iridiums or vis versa? I can't say that I am unhappy with the Champion Truck plug but if there is something better I'm up for giving it a try.

how about the direct hits ignition plugs? I am looking into putting on a new Volant and direct hits, but im wondering if the direct hits is worth the $275. Anyone out there running them that could feel a difference in performance?

$275.00 for plugs??? I hope that's the price for the Volant and the plugs. Most people here are using NGK's. Mine came with Platinum NGK's from the factory. I tried a set of Bosch Platinum 4's but took them out after about 30K miles. Seemed to make it run a little richer even though they were direct replacements. I put the NGK'S back in and my tailpipe isn't as black.

Whatever you switch to, use a little "neverseize" on the plug threads. I haven't heard anything about the Direct Hits Spark Plugs, but in my opinion, I like to stick with companys that have been making spark plugs a long time. I never have been much for "Snake Oil". A new set of Platinum plugs should run about $36.00. Irridium a little higher.

:P
