MAF Disconnect

Recommended Posts

I installed a drop-in K&N a couple of weeks ago. :loser: I've heard of problems with the MAF getting dirty when the filters are over-oiled. I would like to clean mine with some electonics cleaner. The lock on the plug looks complicated and I fear breaking something. Could somebody post on how to disconnect the sucker? Pictures?

Thanks.

I'm sure you did this already, but first disconnect the battery. Next there is a plastic clip (its grey) that slides into the connector that is attached to the MAF. You need to take this clip out first. What I normally do is use a small flat head screwdrive to depress the plastic lip that holds the connector in place. Once you have the plastic clip removed just jiggle the connector and pull on the connector (not the wire) and it should come loose with minimal effort.

minimal effort. LOL!!! I thought that would be the case with mine also as today I installed an AEM Brute Force intake and I had the hardest time getting that darn connector off for some reason. Ended up prying the whole connector a little with a screwdriver and it finally jiggled loose. Funny thing is that was the hardest part!!! It only took me 40 minutes to do the whole intake system and the connector took 5 minutes in itself. Stupid little things kill me!!! :loser:
