cheap air intake

ok I could not do it I just could not spend the cash on an airaid or kn set up. Saving that cash for the westers.

Just thought I would try it today. I seen this somewere.

How about this for 20 bucks at the hardware store and 50.oo flat K@n in the original airbox.

 

Ok its not all pretty like the chrome ones and you dont get that awesome K@N sticker that you all just love to put in your back window.

 

Just by a short 90 3 inch abs and a piece of 3 inch ABS tube. I needed a 45 also becase of my Body lift.If you dont have a body lift its a straight shot. I needed 2 more 3 inch clamps also.

Its all black and what a difference. I also reused the flexable pipe from original set up to connect to the three inch straight pipe.

 

Its bigger Inside diameter than the K@N. A 3 inch pipe fits inside both boots.

I tried it with the paper element first and the air filter box moves quit abit.then put in the k@n flat filter and it barrely moves at all so I would guess this thing is letting in plenty of air.

I think it felt like better throttle response.

But my only Dyno is my right foot.

My bro did that w/ his old 2.2 ltr S-10. didn't add pwr, it actually made it lug harder when we had Odom in the truck! (6'5, 240+)

There have been a few folks that have invented their own intake setup, chances are that he might have gained something or lost something, he just wanted to get er done the economical way. Remember, just because you make intake ducting, dosen't mean better flow, you might have actually restricted it, but if you like it than .

Lemme explain it this way:

 

My bro switched from a "I'm-keeping-it-stock" guy to a "SLAMMED-to-the-ground-wannabe-gangster" guy driving an S-10, to a hick driving an 84 CJ-7 Jeep.
