daytime running lights

Recommended Posts

I bought a used 99 gmc cc/sb. The daytime running lights don't

work. The little green light in the dash comes on but the head lights

don't. I presume they are unhooked somewhere or a fuse is blown that i

can't find. Any Ideas

If your truck is the Old Body Style, then the fuse is located in the panel at the end of the dash board on the drivers side. (For some reason location 13 or 16 rings a bell).

If the fuse hasn't been pulled or isn't blown, then I'd check the bulbs...

Jump the relay at the underhood electrical center just to be sure that they work. If nothing at that point, chack to see if you have power getting to the relay.

There is also a fuse that protects that relay circuit, to the left of the relay I believe.

Try it out and let us know.

I agree that a lot of people pull those fuses, and I also agree that on most trucks they do look better with the DRLs off.

But I just wanted to let you know that in some states it is illegal to disable your DRLs if the truck was factory equipped. ..At our state inspections the DRLs have to operate properly (NH)

Of course, the only way you'd get caught is if you had a police officer  that knew the truck had them anyway.

I guess what I am saying is that you should at least check your local laws regarding disabling a factory installed piece of equipment.

BTW, I believe you can also turn off the day time running lights by disabling the automatic headlight feature. Depress and release the interior light override switch (located just below the headlight switch) twice.

Of course, you have to do this again once the truck is restarted as the system resets.
