PCM for Less

Recommended Posts

Anyone tried these guys? Brian was really patient and helpful with my questions on my 2004 6.0 running 87 oct and seemed very confident in what he could offer me. I have talked with Nelson and Westers and Nelson said they could do something with my truck but couldnt elaborate, and Westers said they couldnt get much out of it. The cost is half with PCM for Less.

Thanks.

04GMC--It says on your profile that you have Westers. Are you changing or getting it for another vehicle? If you are changing, I would love to hear what you like better, Westers or PMC for Less.

Thanks.

I'd also like to hear of anyone else who has personal experience in dealing with Bryan from PCM For Less. His prices are far lower than Nelson's or Wester's.

$250.00 is a far cry from almost $600. Are Westers/Nelsons $350 better????? Inquiring minds want to know.....

I'm sure all of those are good. I went with Nelsons because of the free upgrades. As I do more mods I can get my PCM upgraded for nothing.

Byran is a great guy to work with. He does all the programming on my 1994 Z28 Camaro. He knows what he is doing. I used Wester's for my 99 Z71. At the time I didn't realize Bryan was doing the LS1 trucks. I would have gone with his programming, had I known. I think Wester's is good, but I still feel like something is missing in my tune maybe. It's hard to explain, but sometimes the truck seems to run real strong, then it seems to loose a little power. It might be the dual tune I went with. I've got to give Lyndon a call, and ask him a few questions.

Check out my dyno results in High Performance. All I have is an AFE intake and Westers and you can bet that most of the power comes from the Westers. If you want to go real fast, you need to tell Lyndon. Also, I have had three mods done and Lyndon has been there all along getting more HP every time. No one knows all the programming tricks GM puts into these computers. It's mostly educated guesses and dyno time. The people who have their own dynos seem to get the most HP.

I don't have any experience with Westers, but Bryan at PCMFORLESS tuned my 03 Silverado SS and my 02 Sierra CC. I can't see where another tune can be worht $350.00 more. Bryan could charge more but chooses not to because he makes up for the $$$ in volume. I myself would be hard pressed to spend anymore than what Bryan charges. I believe he will give you free updates for 60 days too!!!!

I also had Bryan tune Michael Andretti's 04 Yukon Denali and he is happy with the gains...that has to be worth something!!

I believe Bryan has dyno graphs for some of his tunes. He added 32 HP to my SS!!!!

PCMFORLESS only charges a $125.00 core...Westers core is $450.00????? Some guys on Silveradoss.com are buying new PCM's from Bryan and keeplig their original ones!!!!

Go with PCMFORLESS.

Coming from the Impala SS comunity I can tell you pcmforless.com is a very highly regarded programmer who will work his tail off to get it right for you! I know he's just getting started with the truck scene but when gets a few hours dyno time in with a few of our vehicles you wont get a better tune anywhere!

I'm not going to argue the "which tuner is better" story, it's been done to death. each tuner seems to have their own Nitch and all do a good job. But I do need to point out a couple of things and set the record straight.

Wester's = LIFETIME free upgrades, you pay the shipping both ways.

PCM for less = 60 days free upgrade, you pay the return shipping

Wester's = LIFETIME full price paid credit toward the tune for your next vehicle, or to swap it to another vehicle, only a shipping charge applys.

PCM for less = After 60 days ???

The Wester's tune for your 02 would be $429 list price, delivered. Buy it on a GB and it is $343.20. The core for an 02 is $150, but they can be found for $50-100 if you shop around.

When the 04's came out, the cost of a core was $450, that was wholesale distributor price, and there were no used ones around. No one would sell a 04 core at that time for $125. Core prices are always changing, and Wester's changes his pricing on cores according to his cost. Brian does the same, as does all the tuners.

As for the SS tune, Wester's recently did a tune for an SS owner. It had run 15.21 stock, 14.89 with a Superchips tuner, and 14.19 with Wester's tune. That is much more than 32 HP increase!. Hot tunes regularly see 50HP increases on the 6.0 engines!

My Wester's tune brought me from a 16.1 to a 15.3 with no other changes.

Butch 02 Sierra Denali
