After posting my previous I was looking around at all of the intake quetions around here. I am supprised that all these truck people are recomending the AEM intake. Is it just me or do the rest of you think of a honda with a big fart can on it when you here AEM. I am not trying to judge, or say its a bad intake system. Just wondering what you guys think. All your outlooks are welcome.

I looked at all the intakes out there and have run K&N in the past. I purchased an AFE Magnum intake which is quite nicely done. It's a steel air box with a pretty massive filter. I dyoned it compared to stock and got 11 RWHP. Well worth the $250.

Kudos to that man. Volant sucks hardcore with fitment. I have helped two freinds with volant, one a Hemi another on a 4.8 took about an hour and a half, but thats for another post. Hey guys thanks for all your input I think I am being byast against them because they gained fame from imports.

For what it's worth, I've had a few imports and I've installed AEM intakes on them and the fitment was great, the sound was great, and the performance increase was noticeable.

Based on previous experience, I would have no problem putting an AEM intake on my truck or my Vette if I didn't already have a CAI on the Vette.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just got done installing my AEM yesterday afternoon. Took me about 35-40 minutes and that was in-between phone calls. The fitment was just about perfect. One of the bolt holes for the heat shield didn't line up exactly, but it was pretty easy to coerse (sp?) it to fitting fine without it flexing up the shield. I didn't think the directions were bad as previously stated and I have very little mechanical experience. It definitely pulls harder all the way through the powerband and is much more responsive just off idle. I'm going to do some mileage comparisons in a few weeks after I settle down with the right foot. It's a little hard to do that right now though......

I thought the instructions were really simple and the fit on my '03 silverado was just about perfect. Nothing touches and rubs. I like it better because I want to stay away from a plastic K&N tube. Not to mention it was cheaper. My friend has a K&N system and has had trouble with his coming off and rubbing against the fan shroud. Plus the dyno numbers were greater on the aem. I wouldn't give nothing for it. Its awesome

I've had an AEM Bute Force intake on my 5.3 for awhile now. The installation wasn't difficult and all the parts fit together well. I've had it for about a year now. I bought one when they first came out. So far, it's held up well. Nothing has broken or worn out. The filter is cleaned using a K&N cleaning and reoiling kit and that works well too. Overall I'm happy with it. It does make the engine sound louder since the resonater is removed as part of the installation. At first I liked that, but it's a little annoying now.
