Driveline Vibration at 70+ ??

Recommended Posts

Hey guys - Let me know if you can help me. My 02 HD 4x4 has a slight driveline vibration at about 73 mph. and goes away around 80. I seem to remember a post on here about a TSB for replacing the driveshaft. I did a search but didnt find anything ???

My truck is going in for the Steeringshaft Clunk (tsb 00-02-35-003a) tomarrow and would like to have them fix the vibration too.

Does anybody have the TSB for this ???

I like to go to the dealership prepared.....cause you never know what they will say or do !!

Thanks for any help !!!

Hmmm - checked alldata - didnt find a TSB.......wonder what the stealership will tell me about my vibration ??

Do you guys want to do a poll.....

1 - Your dirving too fast ??

2 - You need new tires ??

3 - We didnt notice anything ??

Even though my truck only has 22k miles on it and I have rotated the tires twice - they still look brand new.

We shall see ??

If you have a two piece drive shaft and and Alli check here. http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.a...sp?TID=160&PN=1

I have a two piece but a 6spd. Around 55 I had a vibration but I also played with lowering my carrier bearing to get rid of a launch shudder. It was trial and error until I found a 1.0" spacer almost got rid of both.

Well here are the results from the dealer.....

1 - Steering shaft - They performed the TSB thats posted as a sticky in the Light Duty section.

WOW - What a difference !!!! - I cant believe I didnt do this sooner !!! For all of you guys out there that havent done this yet.....DO IT !!! - My steering feels great......It doesnt feel like the steering shaft is going to fall out anymore !!

Now for the Vibration.......Just as I thought......They gave me the run around - they told me that they took my truck out for a test drive "up to 65 mph with no vibration felt" Well guys....I told you the vibration starts at 73 MPH - of course you didnt feel anything. They stated that "legally they cant drive my truck faster then 65mph - so there is nothing they can do." SO I said....you have NEVER driven over 65 mph in your entire life ???? - The response was - "Well Chevy doesnt have a TSB for this - so we really cant help you - BUT - If you can find a dealership with a Dyno that can run your vehicle up to 75 Mph then they can diagnose your problem. "

So I said OK - - If they cant drive my truck faster then 65 - then I dont want those guys working on my Truck anyways.

So - Its a good thing the Vibration is very slight......it comes on at 73 - then is gone at 79....so I guess I will write GM a letter. See what happens ??

Unless you guys have any other suggestions ???

Thanks

D
