AirForce One Intake

Recommended Posts

I installed an AirForce One intake about 2500 miles ago.

I don't recall seeing any info on cleaning the filter in the box and now it must be time to do so. Anybody else use this intake and have some information to help out?

I have the same intake. There is a two part cleaner/oil spray kit available

at parts stores. Very easy to clean. Be carefull not to put too much oil back on element. I think it was a K&N kit and it came with good instructions.

HUMMM. I have the same intake and you should be able to get a cleaning and oiling kit from the supplier you bought the intake from. If not try the K&N site. Oil it very lightly or you may get oil on the MAF which will cause your air flow readings to be bad and affect the way your truck runs. Then you will have to figure out how to clean your MAF. According to the instructions you only need to clean and re-oil every 30000 miles or so unless you are in really dusty or dirty conditions.

The following is from the K&N site because I could not find anything on the Airforce One site. Try K&N FAQs

20. How do I know when to clean the filter?

The general rule of thumb is that the filter needs to be cleaned when the dirt build up gets as thick as the wire mesh. The usual interval is 30,000 - 50,000 miles depending on driving conditions. We recommend that you check your filter about once a year in normal usage.
