37s with 4.56 gears and other new mods coming soon

Recommended Posts

It's time to start moving on some new mods for the HD. It took alot of seaching but I was able to locate a set of 4.56 gears for the front but I found them (they were on backorder at most places). So the stock 4.10s will be upgraded next week. I thought I was going to come out with a little more gear but I just ordered a set of 17x8.5" Renegade XT wheels and had them wrapped with 37x13.5" Xterrains. These will be replacing my current American Eagle 102 wheels with 35" Nitto tires (these are for sale if anyone is interested  ).

I've been waiting for Corsa to come out with a split rear system that exits under the bumper but they only have a system that exits behind the rear tires. I don't like that look so I kept the stock muffler and had some tailpipes built to exit under the bumper. They are finished off with a nice set of 4" Corsa style tips. The final upgrades will probably be a set of the new 8.1 aluminum heads and intake manifold. These parts should be ready sometime next month.

That sounds like a sweet combo.

How did you like the 35 nitto's with the 410 gearing? I've heard that they take more power to run at the cost of performance so a lot of guys were running 456's to regain the power they lost. Did you noticed a difference in power? Also how much lift do you have to accommodate the larger tires?

I was intrested in the nitto's but i blew my wad on the westers gp and am having the box sprayed and boards installed as well as a front receiver with winch so don't have any bucks left for awhile :D:eek: The wife(boss) says enough :cool:

I didn't have the truck for long before it was lifted and a set of larger tires went on. I'm currently running the stock tires on my Suburban. I noticed the different when I went from the 22s to stock (about 3" difference). The truck revs a few hundred RPMs higher at 65 so I find myself looking down to make sure I'm in OD and not D. There also is a noticeable difference in throttle response. Can't say that this truck is down on power though

Tbyrne - You seem to be sticking with 8-8.5" wide wheels. Any specific reason? I have tens on a 35" tire and I am finding that the smallest puddle makes the truck look like it has been through a war zone. I haven't decided if I should suck up the price and get 8" wide rims to keep the side of the truck cleaner. Also, dont know if the stance would just look too narrow with only 8" wide rims. I have a ranchahand front replacement and so the tires in front are emphasized. Have you had any problems with mud and dirt with the 8" wide rims you have now? BTW - the more pics I see of your truck the more I am liking 18" rims!! Good looking rig.

The wheels on the truck now are 18x10 but I went with 17x8 for the Evos. I couldn't go to big with the tires but I do like the "balloon look" so I went a little smaller this time. I also go through the war zone problem when going through a puddle. The tires stock out just far enough to toss everything up the side of the truck

So far the tailgate handle and door handles have been replaced with a set of a Silverado SS (painted to match) and I kept the stock muffler but had a split rear system made so it now exits under the bumper. The new wheels/tires probably won't arrive until the beginning of next week.

You will be very pleased with the PC X-terrain's. I've only had mine for a couple days now, but they are by far the best offroad tire, driven on the road, I've ever owned, time will tell about overall. I've owned about all of the major brands between all the trucks I've had. Super smooth and quiet for such an aggressive tread pattern. Even on wet pavement the traction is great. I can still break them loose when I want, but under normal acceleration, they have plenty of grip. I took a pic of the ProComp MT's (in my sig) I had previously, they had 61K miles on them and still had almost half of the tread left. Chris

Thanks for the feedback Chris! Mine are two days away so I should see them on Wednesday. Our course it was 60 degrees today and will snow tomorrow and Friday so the truck will be sitting until the roads are clean. I want to take some pictures without having to spend a few more hours cleaning :D

22s for the Suburban are being cleaned in the background.

More aggressive thread pattern!

Almost 3" taller than what's on there now.

They would normally be on the truck by now but I spent about 4-5 hours detailing the truck for an event last weekend... then it snowed last night. Spring is right around the corner so it's not leaving the garage until the roads are clean. I want to get some pictures before the truck gets dirty again
