Sorry to break it to you, but you won't be the only guy pimpin a ranger around here anymore  . I'm gonna be driving my brothers 97 Splash while he is deployed.

It's all part of my plan...I plan to brainwash all 10,000 members to get everyone to buy a Ranger. You're only helping.

Same frame, it counts too.

It won't be long. Wingnut will be the hardest to convert, but even he will see the light and buy a Ranger.

don't worry wing, I'll stop you!

I figure I'd be hardest to convert, I drive a German car.....

Good looking truck...

I had the Mazda below for about 6 months. Liked the power and the fact that I had a 5 speed with the 4.0 Liter, I didn't like getting 16 MPG on the highway though...

That was with full synthetics, a Gibson Cat-back, and Amsoil Air-filter! lol

Be careful though, I actually sold my B4000 because of the speed limiter. I went to pass a truck on a 2 lane road, and the truck cut out ~85 MPH. Mazda would not do anything, test it, talk about it, think about it, nothing... After talking with Mazda North America and Ford, I just said hell with it, and went back to something I knew about. Traded the B4000 for the truck I have now.

Anyways, Rangers are solid little trucks, and seem to last forever... and yours looks good!

Must be a Mazda Thing because my Ranger would cut out at about 105 mph, and by that time, I was ready to slow down anyway, cause I had ghetto tires from wal-mart (not bashing wal-mart tires, but just saying I got the cheapest ones) and the temperature expansion on those was like a B rating....

That's what I thought at first too, but all the rangers and B-series (same assembly lines) with either the 3.73 or 4.10 rear ends, still have the same ECU calibrations (for the limiter) set for the smaller rear end ratio. It can be fixed with a ECU flash, but the dealers won't even think about doing anything once they hear the words "speed limiter". I went round and round with them for about 3 months...It was like pissing into the wind.

With a buddy's GPS, I went and test drove a 2003 Ford Ranger Edge with a 4.0L auto. 3.55 rear, and a 2003 Ranger Extended cab 4wd with a manual and 3.73 (same model as my mazda), the 4wd topped out at 87.7mph and the Edge hit 98mph...Weird stuff.

In my truck, I could hit the limiter about 500 RPM's under redline in 3rd gear.

I understand what you're saying too though, I didn't need to be going any faster than 100 for sure, but around here the average interstate speed is 80.. That didn't leave me much to work with. lol

I had a Ranger once ... my first truck in fact. I guess I can't complain. It was a good little truck, but I (along with a handful of my friends w/ Rangers and Explorers around the same model ... mine was 89) had the stinking oil pump go out. Apparently Furd was using 4 lbs of gasket maker instead of an actual gasket ... crap breaks off after time, clogs the pump, and it's "burn baby burn"!!!

I think that was all cleared up in later models though and as far as small trucks go right now, I'd have to say that Furd probably has one of the best lookin ones ... and your's is no exception!
