I've decided on the Volant. After looking around at all the intakes, especially the cold-air ones, it became apparent that the Volant was pretty much what I was looking for.

Do you think they flow better than UPD (NSV) and K&N?

It's hard to say, because few of them post anything like their CFM ratings.

My decision is based on a number of factors, not the least of which is the intake had to be a cold-air type. I also paid very close attention to what others have said about quality and performance (especially people who installed the various intakes).

Overall, it seemed to me that the Volant was a very good product, so when I have the funds that's what I'll be getting.

As a quality engineer by trade, I always look for hard facts from published independent studies. To date I haven't seen anything other than "claims". Hence, I still have a factory intake and exhaust.
