got a 01 2500 HD 4x4 and want to crank

Recommended Posts

The OEM shocks suk, so even if you don't crank you should consider swapping them. The ride improvements are that great. I went with the Rancho 9000x, which can be adjusted however you'd like. That's a definite plus.

Cranking 2" will most likely do for you what it has done for just about everyone else; screw up your ride. 1" is fine, 1.5" is usually okay, but 2" is more then you'll want to try. If you need that much lift you should install the green keys instead.

It rides like crap with 2" but it is a 3/4 ton truck and I have gotten used to it but I think I am going to install the green keys.

I just ordered some Rancho 9000's so I'm hoping that helps some cuz I have already had 2 factory shocks leak on me from topping them out.

Just try it and judge for yourself. Just keep track of how many turns you make on the adjustment bolt. If you don't like it, return them to their original position. Some people like the stiffer ride, some can't stand it.

i dont understand why people are gonna replace their keys with green keys b/c they dont like the ride with tbar crank, its gonna be the same. anyways i dont mind a stiff ride but stiff and intolerable are different. My plan is to run 315's so maybe ill run keys but ill see how much the tbars do first.
