Spray-on bed liners

Recommended Posts

Am considering having a spray-on bedliner installed. I have talked to several body shops, and looked at the following bed liners:

1. Rhino Liner....seemed OK, but >$400

2. Speedliner.....Non-skid surface. <$400

3. Super Liner....Not available to see a sample. <$400

3. Line-x....Very popular with RV'ers. Very rough surface. <$400

What are the pro's and con's of the above brands?

These are the only brands available in my area, so please limit your comments to these.

I have a red Speedliner in my 2000. My comments would be; the color is close but doesn't match the Victory Red and the surface is rougher texture than a

Line-x. I will say, nothing moves in the bed. lol Another point, the red is harder to clean than black. If I was doing it now, I'd do the Line-x. Hope that's of some help.

I had a Rhino in my 96 Ram full bed and subsequently sent 4 or 5 people to the fellow. Great job, lasted 8 years without a chip, still looked great, withstood battery acid, mulch, lumber, debris of all sorts. I had it sprayed in under the rails, my workmate has had two Dakotas sprayed over the rails and it looks awesome. He can still use his Extang tonneau too.

I did my past 2 vehicles with Herculiner..Purchased it at pep boys for 90 bucks...Everything you need comes in the kit...Wash the bed, scuff all surfaces that will be treated, wipe down with denatured alchohol, stir product right in the can,cut in with a brush, roll on the rest....Takes about 6 hours or so...Looks good to me works fantastic.....

my step dad has the Line-x and it looks sharp but I went for the Rhino because I felt it looked better, more tacky to keep things from sliding and thicker. Of course it could be the installer who has more than 10 years experience. I've seen Rhino linnings that are four years old and look great....with proper care of course.

This is the second truck that I have put a Herculiner on. I haven't had any issues with fading or chipping. The only noticeable difference between the roll-on versus the spray-in is the extra money in your pocket.

I've got a Line X. This is my first spray in bedliner. I had it done last summer and I like it. Things definately don't slide around as much. When looking at the spray in's I was able to compare a couple of used trucks that had a Line X and a Rhino side by side on my dealers used car lot. I liked the looks of the USED Line X better than the USED Rhino. That was my deciding factor. I was able to get a deal on it through my dealer. They had a promo going where you got a free Line X with the purchase of a new truck, but I had already bought my SS a couple months before so they gave it to me at their cost which was $275 out the door.

After about 8 months I'm happy with the Line X.

Line-X looks good, lasts, and doesnt flake off like rhino. Go look at a 5 year old truck with line-x and rhino what do you get? rhino flaking off. Sure rhino looks good with maintience....but dude...line-x is just take it through the car wash and thats it. DONE.
