TrueBlue
First off, I love my truck. Plenty of power, looks great, and so far no issues that a lot of people have experienced. That said, I have noticed that of all my new vehicles this one seems to have the least effective cabin filter of any of them, and there have been many, from Subarus, Toyotas, and yes Chevy's. Anyone notice this? The smell of other vehicles exhaust gets to the point where I'm not even sure there's a filter installed. I haven't checked it yet, thought I'd try this instead. Assuming it is there, and not still wrapped in celophane, has anyone heard of or found an aftermarket filter that does better at keeping outside odors at bay. Of course I'm talking about when the button is pushed to recirculate the cabin air.
gemarsh
GM has a carbon cabin filter available. I forget the number off the top of my head. It works well on road kill skunks.

2016 Sierra Owner
I think I've read somewhere before that the recirc feature doesn't seal off all of the air from the outside. In other words it still draws in a little fresh air. I don't think a better filter is going to help much.

TrueBlue
Received the filter, it was a perfect fit size-wise. Haven't driven the truck yet but given that it was twice the weight of the stock filter as well as being much more substantial in apparent filtration material I have no doubt it's going to be a big improvement. The stock filter was little more than pleated paper. Might have blocked dust but I don't see how it could filter any odors or even pollen. Thank you for the tip!
