There is little to no oil splash if you do the filter first and no chance of dropping the oil filter into the full drain pan if it's slips out of your hand.

When I worked in a shop doing oil changes left and right it really depended on the vehicle because you have a huge oil cart underneath the vehicle.

I haven't master the filter yet and don't know I will. LOL But I'll try your way next time. Thanks for the tip.

Sitting in my wife’s office after service. The other bookkeeper for the church mentioned she was going to the dealership in the morning for an oil change. She’s going on a trip and her oil minder was at 20 percent on her Impala. I asked how many miles was on her car. She said it just turned 100K miles. She’s 86 and claims it’s her last car. She very active and drives all over. I asked if she ever had transmission service done. She said no only oil changes. I recommend that she ask about transmission service. She shrugged her shoulders and said they’ll tell me if I needed it done. I’ve known this person for at least 20 years. She knows my background. I said if you want to be certain to have longevity I recommend to at least ask. She just gave me a look at said see you later. She’s your average customer.

I took the Genesis in this morning because the driver side wheel was making a noise while applying the brake. The dealership had just done a brake job recently. The brake job was less than they quoted because they determined the rotors didn’t need to be replaced. They turned the rotors. I asked them to rotate the tires while the front’s were off and eye the back brakes. They did the usual check list like I got an oil change even though they didn’t do the last oil change I just had done elsewhere. They recommended changing the power steering fluid. The only fluid that hasn’t been changed. I agree like anything else in the world you have to educate yourself. Otherwise you’re setting yourself up to be taken advantage of. They only charge me for the power steering fluid change. They check my car over from 8-11. The grand total was 140$. I haven’t bought a car from them since 2015. I go once a year for oil changes. There’re now edging out Honda for my next ride. The other dealership that’s been giving me great service for many years. You can find good dealerships.

Well, my wife started the Genesis this morning. The power steering pump made its usual groaning sound it does for a minute when it’s cool. But after a minute it was quieter than normal. The engine had its usual rattle it has at startup. It’s been doing that for about 5 years. It keeps on going. The car otherwise is pretty good. Honestly I would probably have traded it in at that. My wife has informed me if it blows up, it’s getting a new engine etc. She just loves that car. So I keep an eye out for a clean low mileage one just like it. I’m surprised on how well the paint and interior has held up for a second year start up. It still drives as new. I had planned the next one to be a Lexus ES 350. CPO of course. Nope.
