new radio update recall N242435631

Recommended Posts

They did the radio recall on my 2022 1500 at4 on wednesday when it was in for service on an unrelated issue and i got it back thursday afternoon. Last night i realized the buttons to change tracks/ stations on the left side of the steering column dont work. have another appointment wednesday, but the person booking me is saying they cant guarantee me a rental because tech said not sure it was caused by performing recall and im 7k km over my bumper to bumper...like 1+1  doesnt equal 2

Dealer had my truck for a full week this time around. They fried the Comm Gateway and had to source a new one, then they had to order parts to replace the brake slave cylinder.

I had reported a rattle from the rear of the cab which, of course, they "couldn't duplicate." So I took the tech for a ride. He heard it, found it, and fixed it. Apparently, on the high-level trim, you can opt for heated rear seats. Since they use the same wiring harness in all of the trucks, that plug is just dangling there, bouncing off of the floor on the driver's side of the cab.

I noticed that there is a setting for automatic braking with rear cross traffic which had no value - this may be a new setting?

Just a little further update on my 2024 RST that got the update last Thursday.  The issue with the A/C fan slowing down after startup on a hot day (on Auto) appears to be resolved.  However, the display for the radio now intermittently changes from the currently playing song to just the arrows for skip forward or back, and pause. Then it goes back to normal again.  It also still drops the sound periodically. Maybe this will be fixed by an OTA. 🤣🤣🤣

Mine has had that since new. I think it's been around awhile.

Bought my 2024 in October of '23. There was an OTA update done shortly after. They had to reprogram the gateway module in January of this year but I do not know whether any software installed was any newer than what was already there. No updates were installed on mine until the recall work done last week.

So, it's entirely possible that it was added from the OTA last year or the work done back in January and I just never saw it. Since there was no value when I looked at it, I suspected it may have been introduced in this latest work (since I KNOW that I had looked in that screen previously at some of the auto-braking options to turn off the forward collision auto braking.

As an aside... I had a brand new Malibu as a loaner while my truck was in. There was a semi coming towards me in the other lane (40MPH road, yellow line only) and the car determined that auto braking was needed because it determined that the semi was a vehicle in front of me with its brakes on (it was in the other lane, but it was red). I hate auto-braking because it has misinterpreted things on me many times and put me in situations where it could have caused an accident instead of preventing one.

Not sure about 2022 or the pre-refresh trucks, but the

2023 1500 GMC had rear cross traffic alert standard on higher trims, and optional on all other trims except the 3VL version of the elevation (available on the 3SB version).

On chev is was also standard on high trims and optional on all others except the 2 customs and the 2FL version of LT

Alert has always been there. Not sure about the auto-braking in conjunction with it.

I dont know when it came but I see it listed on the 2023 as well.

Only on my 3rd month with my 2024 and its been there since I bought it.  I would like to test it sometime to see how it works.  Maybe go to an empty parking lot with my wife and try to run over her :)

Yeah, I'm not really that interested in testing it... lol

Rear cross traffic alert (UFK) and rear cross traffic braking (UFB) were both there in 2023.

The two had the same availability.

On the vehicles where they were optional, they were only available as part of the same package - so one could not be ordered without the other.

Mine got update and now my automatic defrost don't come on with remote start and don't turn on rear defrost, don't come on automatic now either.  Going in to dealer next week. It did work fine until radio module update was done. Dealer told me today I'm not the first person having problems now. I should have not have had it done . Truck was fine before doing it.

is it actually cold enough for the defrosters to kick on? My wheel and seats have been kicking on but never my mirrors or back window yet, it must be lower than 40 degrees or something like that to get it to automatically kick on.
