I have no info under history either. I have appt Wednesday and plans to ask them why the software update came email and not via app.

I had a notice in the app about the recall, but I had no idea it was there until AFTER I had received the email. The app sucks and I never use it as it provides absolutely zero value to me...

We've done a bunch of these.  Its 1.5-2.5 hours depending on internet connection, GM servers and how busy they are, etc.

Big thing is the order the steps are done in.  Radio update is typically first which is a PITA at times.  First step is what they call a USB file transfer.  Tech goes to GM SPS2, they pop a USB in and it will install the big main files on there which the download of that takes 15-30 minutes alone.  Then the USB gets popped into the truck and then the truck will acknowledge and prompt the update, which that then takes another 30-40 minutes to process.  After that finishes, a regular radio update is then done, then the serial data update.

So far I haven't seen an SDGM replaced for this recall.

When did this update come out?  It was in on 7/29 for what sounded like a similar update.

Zero info.

However, I'm wondering if that's because the module is fried and the truck can't report information properly at this point?

The 'history' in mine shows 4 updates --- all from august 2023.

Did you have your 2024 before then?

I don't know where the history file would be in the truck, or when/how the info gets to the app.

I'm also wondering if they have paused updates while working on the just changes just released for the recall that is intended to stop possible battery drain after OTA's.

Updates to mine were all problem free, but we've all read the stories of the problems others have had.

I wonder if updates done at the dealer end up in the log that the app shows?

OTA updates on mine were August 2023.

The Brake fluid sensor recall was released 12 Sept 2024

The Serial Data Gateway Modul and Radio recall was released 10 Sept 2024

It's possible GM Canada dates are slightly different than GM US dates.

The other completed recalls that my truck has had done do NOT show up in the log of OTA updates

The app does show them in a different area -- the recalls and warranty section,

Thanks for info. I guess ours might be slightly different anyway.  23 LZO vs 24 5.3

Thanks!

And you are correct. Looking under recalls and warranty I found one that is coming up on a month old.

The serial data recall started July/August?  2023 and 2024?   But was just expanded 9/19 to include more years.  2022.5 just was added.

It is a rolled out update from what I read on a GM service bulletin that was shared online about it. They are trying to control how many people hit up the dealership for the recall at once time is my guess. Especially with how long it takes to run the recall the last thing they want is to have every dealer across the world hitting GM up for the same update and making it take longer than they have on the book for timeframe.

I'm trying to understand the build number info and what this means. 2024 Trailboss just got the recall. I think it went up to android 12? But all the other numbers went down, was this a downgrade or upgrade? Trying to determine if they did it right. Some numbers are diff, down and up, lol. What a convoluted mess

OLD: full_gminfo37_gb-user 10 W206E-Y171.4.2-QIHM22B-824 206 release-keys

NEW: full_gminfo37_gb-user 12 W201E-Y172.6.1-SIHM22B-306.2 201 release-keys

I think you start by comparing the "12" to the "10" (seems to indicate the major Android version, and 12 is larger/newer than 10) and everything beyond that has to do with the specific details around when the software packages were compiled I would imagine.

So does that mean when they update android say from 10 to 12, then the numbers can go down again but it's still newer since it's android 12? It isn't clear at all lol. I guess I'll rest in fact that it went up to 12 it was probably upgraded correctly, now can OTA if it wants I guess

Yes. The "version" has gone from 10 to 12. Your comparison to determine which one is newer is done.

If you have a version of 12 installed, and another version of 12 becomes available, then you start looking at the numbers AFTER the 12 to understand which one is newer.

Yes that's correct. It's like if you have a 12.0 version as the base and then a hotfix comes out, it would be something like 12.1 for example.
