What does the recall address other than the radio?

N242435631 - Serial Data Gateway Module

This is to correct an issue where the battery is a risk of being drained following and over-the-air update.

Thank you. I found the -04 revision, and it looks like it drops the radio update as well: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2024/MC-11008247-0001.pdf

Do you have a link to the -05 version?

If I'm reading this correctly, it looks like there may have been complaints after the radio updates in earlier revisions regarding bluetooth phone calls. Perhaps they've dropped the radio/android updates in the later revisions while they attempt to get that sorted out. I'd would rather sacrifice bluetooth call quality to have a functional HU.

I went this morning for the update.  I was there for a little less than two hours.  According to my paperwork I received the update ending in -05.  As mentioned here this apparently does not include the radio update as I still have Android 10 and versions that are over two years old.

Yes, the later iterations of the bulletin removed the HU update. I'm guessing because of the complaints about bluetooth audio quality when making calls. I am willing to sacrifice that for a semi-functional head unit, which it is not currently. I will be taking my truck back in and demanding they update the firmware or replace the entire HU, with a threat of lemon lawing the whole thing. The truck has already been at the dealer for over 30 days in the last 10 months for engine/emissions related garbage, so I'm already within my right here in Virginia.

I found a workaround for if your seek/track select buttons stop working on the back of the steering wheel if you already did the recall. Switch to the audio controls on the dash cluster pressing the left & right arrows on the right side of steering wheel, the buttons will start working again .

They updated mine 2 weeks ago, now when i use the front camera it turns off as soon as the vehicle moves and you have to hit the button again to have it stay on. I really do not like that.

Mine does the same thing very annoying!

Also I can send text just fine, just cannot reply when someone texts me it says it's sent but it's not

I had this recall done in late August shortly after it came out because the gauges don't always come on in my truck when I start it and was hoping maybe this would fix that as well.  Only the speedo and RPM gauges don't come on.  I have to flip to display settings and change the gauge layout and then back to the one I use and then they come on.

Anyway, my infotainment is on Android 12 and the version I have is Y172.6.1.  I only have one annoying issue since I had it done to mine.  My infotainment system always now does a super slow startup (regardless what the startup setting is set to) and I hear the Android screen unlock sound every time I start my truck before the screen loads.  It sometimes takes close to a minute to fully boot up.  I disconnected my negative battery terminal a few times and that seems to fix it for a day or 2 and then it goes back to the same issue. I even factory reset my system and set it all up from scratch last night and went out this morning with the same slow startup issue.   I haven't noticed any other negative effects.

Is your navigation (google maps on the HU) somewhat... laggy? This may be normal for this car, but I've noticed it's frustratingly slow to respond sometimes, especially within the first minute or two of the vehicle starting, but even after. My car was delivered with this update already applied, so I wasn't able to test with the prior version (I have AA 12).

Mine makes the very first Android phone back in 2009 feel like a modern iphone in comparison...

It doesn't seem to be, but I don't really use it.  I use Android Auto for maps since i don't pay for a data plan.

I had the recall and the update to Android version 12 in October and it’s even worse than before. Google maps in particular will stop displaying until I reboot the system and the overall screen response is even slower, which I didn’t think was even possible with how slow it already was.

Since getting the update I've noticed some improvements. The A/C fan is no longer turning down on its own after startup.  Also, the short audio dropouts after startup have gone away.  All of my XM presets were erased after the update but I'm able to reprogram them and this was an issue before.  My update was not supposed to be for the radio, but it sure seemed to fix those things.

I have also observed the proper fan behavior, but I still have audio drop-outs and am now plagues with the crackling audio (for what I hear from the other party) from a bluetooth phone call. I have the unit configured to NOT use the fast startup, forcing it to fully restart each time the truck is started and have noticed that the overall "time to ready" interval has gotten quite a bit longer.

My updates are NOT to the most recent builds as has been shown by some others in this thread, but are to the prior builds from this year. There is no additional OTA showing available for me, either.
