2024 On Its Way

Recommended Posts

It took some searching on the part of my home dealership (Scott Drummond in Campbellford, Ontario) to find me what I was looking for. Seeing as their drivers balked @ the over 300 mile one way drive to do a dealer swap, they asked me. I said sure as I don't get up to this part of the province & hoped to meet up w/ a friend.

Truck is a gasser & has the True North Pkg in addition to the LT Convenience Pkg.

I was thru the area (Kirkland Lake Ontario) about a month ago & passed the dealership on a daytrip and likely saw the truck on their lot. The system showed it had been in their inventory for about a hundred & fifty days. This was they 3rd truck the dealership had contacted about a dealer trade.

The building in the background is the last operating gold mine in the town. Up until the late 60s or early 70s. There were 4 or 5 additional mines in operation. I had been a Junior Ranger (great summer job) west of here in 1979 and we made it into town every other Sat', so the town & area are kind of special to me. I've snowmobile thru here a few times too over the years.

I did get to meet my friend. He called as I was picking up a pizza for lunch. He was about half an hour ahead of me on his return trip to home. Caught up to him at a parking lot. We looked over the truck & chatted for about half an hour.

Will be dropping off my old truck & picking up the new 1 next week.

Thanks! This is truck #8 for me (my 1st was a new '82 K15 short box fleetside). I've avoided black over the years, but I couldn't be picky this time, since I wasn't ordering.

Thanks. One thing I've noticed is how the ride is so much better than that of my 2017 (also a 3/4 ton)

Moving some lumber (real 2x4s) around today. Probably a heavier load than some of the advertising on TV. The laughable example is a trailer w/ a load of culverts on it it or just a large 1...

I've got about 2000 klicks on the truck & 1 thing that sticks big time is how much more comfortable the seat/sitting position is in this truck vs my 2017 regular cab. I'm 6' 2" and I could never adjust the seat where I felt like I was 'in' the seat. It was truck #7 that Ive owned & I openly said that the seat sucked.

Both trucks had/have the 40/20/40 seat. About all the 2017 seat had for adjustment was the lumbar (manual) lever. This new truck has the power adjustable 'everything' on the driver's side.

I never drove either of my brother's crew cab (2016 & 2022) much so I dont know how they compared to my 2017. He thought maybe due to the cab dimensions of the K2XX regular, I couldn't lay the seat back 'back' to my liking.

Can anyone say if the seats have been improved in the T1XX for better comfort or was he right on his idea?

The K2 reg cabs didn't leave much for seat recline adjustment.  T1XX all the cabs got larger so they have a bit more.

I think the T1 seats are better than K2 seats, but I feel I'm in the minority on that one at times.

Also, a crew cab this time I see?

Like I said earlier, I've had regular cabs from each generation. As soon as I got the K2XX after 6 years in the GMT900, I could tell the seat wasn't that great.

Yes, I wanted a truck built in Oshawa. Only other home built truck was my '82:

I had a 77 k1500 Scottsdale. Looked a lot like that one. Different grill and I had 33’s on it.

The factory P235s were soon replaced w/ 33s & a 4" lift kit. When I sold it in '88 I had added a body lift & was running 38s. A subsequent owner had swapped out the 1/2 axles for 3/4 tonners.

I wasn’t driving in 88 ha. But I had that 77 in the mid 90’s and loved it.
the thing with regular cab trucks is you couldn’t fit four friends with ya or could you? I remember a very very cold winter night this guy wanted to come along so bad he agreed to riding in the bed. It was probably 10 below and factor in riding down the highway it was brutal. He was pounding on the rear glass couple miles down the road. He was a bit cold when we got to where we were going!!
