Rotten Egg Smell

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a brand new Chevy 2500 Gasser. Has about 300 miles on it. Has a strong sulfur smell when driving with the windows down. Especially when accelerating quickly. No smell at idle or with the windows rolled up. No smell around exhaust pipe. Battery doesn't smell. No check engine light. Any ideas?

I only had the New Truck for about 100 miles. It's been at the dealership for service for a couple weeks now. Truck still smells like sulfur but they are denying the issue. General Motors advised me to take the truck to a different dealer for service.

I'm not sure of the composition of todays catalytic converters but in the old days the rotten egg smell was an inidcation it/they are failing/clogging up.

My truck had that problem a month ago, around 10k miles on a 2024. It went away. I have no idea why this problem came about, but it only lasted for a tank of diesel (really a tank and a half) so  maybe it was bad fuel? Not sure!? I've driven 2k miles and many tanks since (big road trip with trailer) and had zero issues since. EDIT: I just re-read that you had a gasser...maybe it is a CAT issue then, hopefully it will be a transient issue like mine was.
